As a military historian...I must ask...
Is it true that the SBS is the toughest fighting force in the world? Or is simply the most selective?

Good question. I propose that we set up some form of gladitorial combat competition so that members of different special forces units can fight to the death in front of thousands of screaming fans.
They could also wrestle lions or other wild animals just for a change if they got bored.
Not only will we be able to answer your question, we'll also make a few bucks by selling the TV rights.

I'd say that the Israeli CSAR chaps have got to be up there, especially as they've been working in a live zone for many years.MilitaryHistorian wrote:As a military historian...I must ask...

Also it depends what you mean by tough
1. Tough training and supreme physical fitness
or
2. Tough elite soldiers that don't fanny around
or of course both!
Think this is a silly question, to be honest. Every special forces unit has there own different selection for what that unit needs. For example, uksf selection is mostly long yomps, operating in harsh environments ect, so you end up with lads that can work in a four man team for weeks unsupported. If you look at the us seals, they do more power strength training/selection. So they would be more like shock troops and carry out more raids ect. I think its unfair to say that sbs has the hardest selection, one because there isn't a sbs selection its now uksf selection and two because every unit is different and are specialist in there own fields. Thats what i think anyway.
