Pre Para Course

Post by Weasel »

Hi, I know that I've seen the answer to this question somewhere before (at least I think I have, maybe I just dreamt it..). Anyway I was wondering if the Paras have a pre Para course, not P Company, but something before that in preparation. I know that the RE have a Pre All-Arms Command course run by 59 Cdo, maybe others too I'm not sure. Do any of the other Army regiments (right word?) run something similar to that for the Paras?

I'm looking at joining the Signals and 16 Air Assault, and I think I will be fit enough, but I'm sure extra training wouldn't go amiss. Apparently 59 find that it helps them to get a higher pass rate.

59 wont allow guys to progress to Lympstone until they pass their beat-up. It isnt easy and the reason theres a high pass rate at CTC is the beat up weeds out the non-hackers. There is a holding troop for those who have the potential but lack a certain element or get injured.

29 also have a beat-up, and Logs used to have one/still do for army/navy ranks prior to CTC. I believe RO's for 148 go through 29?

As for airborne, I have no idea, except my mate did do a pre-p coy course, he was RLC at the time before swopping berets and badges for something alot more in keeping with the size of his head :o we arent that close of mates no more.

Ey oop Doc, ya loser!

Of course all units that send candidates on P Coy run Pre Para beat ups. When you're in Depot as a Reg recruit it's just basically the whole of your training up to that point!

I've just posted a link for the 16 AAB's website, and in the photo section there's a section for what looks like a pre-P Coy build-up course run by the Brigade. Could that be what you're after?
