Question about halton kit

Post by Andr3w »

Hey i have my kit list ready for my 9 week training at Halton but there are a few questions i would like answered.

1 - It says "Swimming trunks/Costume (no bikinies or football shorts)
---Does this mean i can still wear swimming shorts?

2 - Elasticated trouser bungees, gren, 7" long
---What the heck are these?

3 - Sew-on name tags(2" x 1/2" no pre-embroidered with first name, surname only or blank)
--- Im guessing this means i can get them with my last name already on? I hear i have to leave room at the end for 3 numbers, this correct?

4 - Padlocks (not snaplock)
---Whats a snaplock, is it where it has a keycombination?

Thanks

Ring up your AFCO??
I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

A snaplock is the normal kind that locks when you shut it. I *assume* they mean get the kind that you have to lock with a key, or indeed a combination one.

These are green twisted elasticated strips with hooks on either end and are used around the bottoms of your combats. you can get them from any army surplus store. Get more than they recommend you will need them.

just a tip i went to halton last year dont bother with the trouser bungees your not alud to use them any more. well until you start trade training. and yea make sure u dont buy snap lock padlocks as if you lock your keys in them you have to cut them open often its a pain in the ass and dont really looks good...
your aloud swim shorts but i never used the swim hat i had to buy. unfortunatly they made us girls wear costumes... not very nice!! :o

take plenty of cleaning stuff as the stuff your given is rubbish and dont help at all!! and be enthusiastic! they love it... good luck mate!!!

You can buy name tapes with your name on, but you can also just get the plain kind that you write your name on with a permanent marker or laundry pen. Experiment before you go! Me and my Mum sat and wrote out loads, and I still ended up making more once I got there. You have to sew them in pretty much everything they give you (including every single sock...).
You will be issued with the green ones shown above when you get out of Halton and onto your next training.
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.
