Officers interview... delayed.

Post by jE^_^ »

Ok. I started last week by calling my old 6th form 1st thing in the morning to ask them to prepare my A Level grade so i could just pop by and collect them... they rang me back a day later to inform me that they were ready and waiting in reception

i visited the school... nothing there, i was dragged all over the school looking pointlessly for these missing certificates to prove my a levels...

So i rang Nottingham AFCO, they said everything should be ok without your certificates, just as a warning however you will have to provide them at some point of your application.

So off i go to Nottingham, takes me 1hour'ish journey... i turn up, trying to revise my little posit notes and bottling my nerves... im sitting in the seats upstairs after handing over ID and various forms...

Im sorry you cannot have your interview today the officers need to see your certifcates before they can interview you!!

Talk about gutted!! i tried talking away around it.. i even had a with compliments slip and letter from school with me however nothing...

So a warning from my experince to people planning on joining, DO NOT go unless you have ALL your documents, even if they tell you otherwise over the phone, at the end of the day the officer interviewing you makes the decision not the guy on the phone...

Re-arranged my interview now for the 13th Dec!

I think you'll find that the under lying reason is becasue there is nobody there to interview you, the same thing happened to me but with my passport, i even took it and they said that becasue it was out of date they couldn't interview me, i was also annoyed, the fact was that i could still use it to travel becasue you have a 6 month cap over and the picture is still of me and it's still an offical document, now i have to get two passport photo's and get them signed by my headmaster to say that it is me. They have re-scheduled to the 12th of December, which i will have to change becasue it is at 12.00 which is an hour and fifteen minutes after one of my moc exams which is too short a time frame and i wont have time to get changed or anything. :x

itsa shame, being told 2 different things from people within the same force, and within the same building!!... if they cannot withhold strong, correct communications... then surely they are giving the RAF a bad reputation. but this is my 1st encounter of poor service so, they can be excused.

Yes, it is odd but i think there is a reason i think, and they are trying to put you off, all the way through the hiring phase they will try to turn you away or sway you into another branch, one to show commitment and the other is becasue they aren't hiring. The number of employees for the RAF this year will fall to 41,000 (or next year, i can't remember).

Bugger me, mine's on the 12th! You sound like you've been really unlucky.

Mind you the only thing I don't have is my NHS number - because I never had a card, so they'll just have to accept that. To be honest, they're just being picky, and awkward - but just stick with it! This way, you'll have more time to revise anyway.
