It may not have been the question but my point was why would you want to join the RAF Regt if you want to do either of those courses, how many Marines/Paras (or those who want to join them) post questions about can they do "X" course?
The RAF Regiment has it's own pre-parachute selection course for it's 2 Squadron which would probably be more appropriate to look into.

Yeah but when did you last see the RAF Reg take on a place like Fallujah? Don't go slating the US Marines they get the job done and they do it in the most dangerous places.johnty wrote:IM JOINING THE MARINES. It was just a general question. Also i beleive you lot don't give the RAF gunners the credit they are due. Look at their training, you have to be fitter to get in there then you'd have to be to get in the US marines.
Also, you're the one who's talking about them doing P Coy or the Commando Course that's not giving their own course much credit is it?
Like I said before the RAF Reg has their own pre-para selection course, you wouldn't expect a Marine or Para to feel the need to do their counterparts respective course would you yet you think the RAF Reg would/should?
The fact is, yes they do train hard but their role is limited and there will always be people taking the mick but it's mainly harmless banter.

How on earth did i slate the US marines? im half yank myself matey. I in no way said they were rubbish, they could be improved and they don't compare to the british or dutch marines but like you said they get the job done.
You need to read more carefully in future, and my question for the 1,000,000,000th time was just a general inquiry.
I was considering joining the US marines or rangers (rangers are very good) but like most colonials decided on the british because they have the toughest training. Also im not particularly keen on america.

Alfa i have to agree with my fellow half countryman, how cant you see what his question was? But johnty im not sure the british army will want you when they find out how un loyal you seem to be, in the sense that you only want to serve your own purpose. I am joining the US marines because its the right choice for me (again alfa johnty really didnt slate them off) and they are good, yes there training isnt upto the british level, but i think the british take it to far, thus why they have a small army. But in my opinion you need to sort your loyalties out before you go in.
PS. this is a very good forum, im currently in england on holiday staying with a friend who is on the other forum, very interesting forums.
