Hi to all, I am currently going the process of joining the Army with the paras in mind, although im a little concerned. As requested by lichfield to prove a previous injury would not let me down, ive had to run twice a week for 15 to 20 mintues and walk with 10 kilos in a bag/rucksack for 6 to 8 miles or approx 90 to 120 minutes.
This a have been able to do (the injury itself was a knee one) without any pain or problem. Recording this in a weekly diary and sending of to Lichfield. Having beening found medically suitable to attained RSC Lichfield for further testing.
However im a little worried as my upper body strength could do with being a lot better. How much will this hamper my application?, especally as from what ive read and understood the physical requirments of the paras are very high.
With thanks

The physical tests at RSC aren't very hard and as long as you complete your run in time and do well on the team tasks I can't see them failing you if you don't do great on the strength tests.
Just keep doing lot's of press ups, pull ups and sit ups this will build up your strength if you do them regularly.
It's obvious that building your strength up will be a big benefit to you at Depot but as long as you're fit and have the determination to put the effort in you will be fine, besides given the fact that once you get there you'll be almost permanently in the press up position it won't take long to build up those arms of yours
