I found this chart, read it, kind of understood it and then fell short. I understand L= lower range and H= higher range but what does the "-" mean?

My guess is that there is no stage/rank in that chosen career but then does that mean that FOA (ATC) stay as low paid Cpls? No rise to WO? Shame. :(

Notice that the charts I talk about say "Pay2000". So is this old data that still means the same today?

I'm a bit snookered on some aspects as well mate.

Could anyone in the know please explain the level structure within each rank, in particular the regiment. For example does an SAC in the Regiment stay at level 1 or is it a progression due to time served, and if so up to what level?

Hope that makes some kind of sense!

Some trades, such as Flt Ops Asst end at Cpl, because the branch and role becomes that of Flt Ops Mgr - a natural progression of career and reponsibility. If a branch doesn't have a particular rank included; such as RAF Regt not having Chief Tech, it's because that rank doesn't exist in that trade. This is the easiest one, because only Tech branches have Chief Tech, but there are plenty of others. Easy if you read the instructions.
