RAF Photographers ?
RAF Photographers ?
Hi again, i'v done at bit more research and i am considering doing the RAF Photography, a few reasons are because i really enjoy it and i am good with technology, also i dont have the best GCSE results in the world so it limits me, i have about 5 in total that are grade A-C including my Art&Design INT GNVQ (which included photography).
So just a couple of Questions,
1A)- Are there any RAF photographers on this site that wouldnt mind me talking to them about their career?
1B)- If not could some put me in touch with someone?
2A)- Could someone tell me what life is like for a photographer after they leave the RAF, Career wise i mean?
2B)- Also what it entales while serving ?
Thanks in advance for the Info.

I used to have a mate who was a Crab phot.
He was based at an Army camp.
He took pics of visiting dignatories and such like, and of various parades, a few pics for newsletters, and not much else.
This was in the days of "wet" photography so he spent a fair wedge of time in the dark room, doing his own negs and also those of just about everyone else who had a camera and wanted freebie phots printed.
He seemed to like his job although that draft was not top of his list.
Not sure what he's doing now, but when he got out he wasn't working as a phot.
That is probably completely useless info, but its all I know.
Sorry

The other day when I was on a RAF camp they were using a civilian photographer, as it was no doubt cheaper to bring him in for a day rather than having some one knocking around for months with out a lot to do. In my old Regiment they have a soldier who will act as photographer as and when required, the rest of the time he acts as an infantry soldier.
