Commando Dagger (Arm Patch)

Post by PW4U »

Can anyone tell me where I can buy some Dagger Arm Patches. Both Black on Green and the Red on Black. I can't find a stockist near me or on the net.

Cheers

When I visited the Imperial War Museum North, near Manchester, they had a shop selling the 'daggers' and 'Royal Marines Commando' flashes. Actually the shop was the best thing in there!

They should have a Web Site, and from that a phone number or E-Mail address you can try.

Anybody know where I can get a set of those plastic guards which are worn over the lips to prevent the knife which is clenched between the teeth from cutting the sides of my mouth? Or am I getting soft? 8)
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Hi Guy's, Try Silverman's Military Surplus, they are on the Mile Rd. East End of London. If my memory serves me correctly, the Corp's was dropping the use of the dagger as it was originally an army thing. I recall reading this in the G&L. Bob Bell

Yoh! Yorkie,

No it's not for my New Crimbo Jumper. It's for the nice new kit Uncle Tony will give me for my Holiday in his war zone................

After wearing Green for 22 years, got bored with civvies and so joined the local RAF Regiment reserve. Now for my troubles I have been called up. Saves paying for a suntan I suppose.
Was there in 90/91 as well, just hope this time those *uckup politicians let us finish the job.

Wish I was going in with the Corps though.

Derek, cheers mucka will look that one up.

Are you with 603 Squadron in Edinburgh?

If so are they any good?
Nearly joined before I went to RMR.

www.ebay.co.uk will have your badges, don't know why but I've seen em on there before.

How does Regiment compare with RM?

Andy
Have a look at www.sofmilitary.co.uk they have them for £1.99 each.If that doesn't work go to www.1944airborne.com that is their other site and you will have to click on their military catalogue.
Best of luck and watch out for those camel spiders.

I don't think you will be able to wear a daggers on any kit unless you are serving with 3CDOBDE. You should however be able to wear your green lid with your current cap/beret badge in it. Remember the beret stands for Commando Trained and not Royal Marine... the cap badge identifies the Service/Corps. Regt.

I am a Stripey in 603, not a bad Sqn if I say so myself, great bunch of guys.
The Rock Apes compare good with the Corps, same determination, same pride none of the bullshit the Army carries. Don't know about a comparison between the RMR and the Aux SQN's though, I never worked with RMR. But I should think it is the same. We are definetly not like or even near like the TA.
If you get fed up with the RMR give us a shout, always on the look out for good men.

Will check out Ebay cheers mate.

The daggers were always and still are worn by Navy/RAF/Army trained personnel and still are to show they had completed the Army Commando Course. The original dagger was the Dettol Badge, red on black.
The Green Beret belongs to the Corps, you CAN only wear it when serving with Cdo Forces. With your own Cap Badge in ti of course.

Me Corps pissed, as you say I had a good (no great) teacher.
We have a old and bold F/Sgt, not sure if you remember him, may have been 45 after you left (he was attached to Z Coy) Joe Steele. He was a Sgt then so that gives you some idea how ancient he is hahaha. No good guy but insits him and I wear our Daggers, he is Corp Pissed, loves nothing better than lamp swinging his 45 days.

Keep the funnies coming mucker not away till Sun 09 Feb.

Cheers Aye

PW4U,

That's right, when I joined the RAF I wasn't allowed to wear my Green Beret with an RAF badge in it........no way! They even made me wear RAF wings instead of my RM wings. No 'dagger' was allowed either!
I even LOOKED like an RAF person when they had finished saying NO!
