Artical in Daily Mirror
There's an article in the Mirror today about 4 lad's with possible PTSD. I dont even claim to know anything about this terrible dibilatating disorder but its clear that they've been treated badly by the mob.

Nowt new there mate
Things are slowly changing, mainly due to the class action which will cost them bigtime when the lads win.
RM have trained bods and are regarded as "Best Practitioners" in H.M.Forces, in the field of TRM as it`s known. Trauma Risk Management.
There is a huge body of opinion which pretends PTSD does not exist. Most sufferers fall into that group. There`s nowt wrong with me. They point out that Grandad went through WW II and it never did him any harm, well, apart from being a violent drunk who was never out of gaol, that is. We can talk about this all night, but the case for the class action as I see it, revolves around these few points.
In 1980 the Israelis hosted a PTSD gig. They are the world leaders in treatment, prediction, prevention. At this conference they were able to link the number of psychologigal injuries to the number of physical injuries that a certain military operation might reasonably be expected to acrue. They argued that, besides catering for physical injury, reponsible armed forces must also cater for the unseen injurys. The MOD were fully aware of the research the Israelies and others had carried out. They chose to ignore it two years later and the rest is history. Four years ago on this site I pointed out that the number of suicides amongst FI Vets had exceeded the number of fatalities during the Conflict and the Listener group was set up as a result.
As has been explained to me, with the best system in the world, if the C.O. doesn`t think it`s necessary or the blokes expected to implement it don`t care, then it will fall on it`s arse. With the MOD`s track record so far, we haven`t had the "best system" at all, so it`s hardly surprising that we still get storys like the one in the Mirror.
It`s not all doom and gloom though. Slowly things are changing.
Ninety years ago men were shot.

I think that the UK will have a bad run through 'this time'....
Iraq will be the first major call-up of Reserves into active duty since
pockets were sewn onto uniforms.....Apart from Suez and the 'Z' Reservists.
All well and good to have a catch all force - but when the lads ( and lasses )
come home after their stint they're discharged back out into their civvy jobs - hope they are not 'ticking' or suffering without a mate to turn to and without
a safety net - the old "suffering in silence" will not do the trick - biting the belt
does NOT work.
I trust that measures are already in place to 'spot' sufferers in advance -
not to 'patch up' afterwards.
