Read most of them, B20 and IA being the best. Another good book to read is Ghost Force SAS, can't remember the author right now. It has a few good chapters about SAS history and missions.

The author of Ghost Force SAS is Ken Connor. Its a great book.

I've read all Andy McNabb's books( andChris Ryan too). Can't get enough of them. But if you liked B2O IA etc keep away from those he wrote with Robert Rigby. Looks like there is room in the market raw edge fiction....you know where Andy used to be.

Since you actually served/are serving? I'd be reeeeeeeally interested to
know what you thought was nonsense about it. The content? the writing? the fuss etc or all of the above.

I guess McNab is really cashing in on what the market seems to want to hear about special ops...but fair enough. I figure he felt he had a story worth telling and I suppose since he got the s*** kicked out of him he may as well cash in on it.

What gets me is all the mystery he creates about himself by not allowing photos etc yet he shows up at the Hay festival.....publicity hype?

My experience of SF is mostly second hand anecdotal, but what i do know sometimes doesn't fit with what Mr. McNab (or Mr. Ryan) writes.

B20, and The one that got away , were fair if embellished everything else that came after them were an affront to culture, poorly wrote nonsense.

Only managed to read one the whole way through (some shoite about Libya) and that was a long guard that night!

Their characters seem just a bit to lucky with every thing!

Always said i was gonna write a book about the Army even got the title

"Two on, Four off - The true story off the British Army"

maybe I need a ghost writer

Everything you said makes sense to me. Maybe he figures his characters have to be lucky or else there'd be no next book....I don't mind cause I want to see the good guys win ...even if its not true

You should get your book going ...there's lots of interest in books by people who have been there or have the truth on whats happening.

Rummors go that Andy couldn't write himself and got looooots of help from his editors and a ghost writer. Wish he'd find a new ghost.

If you really want to see bad writing read Da Vinci code......that is s***

I read Bravo Two Zero years ago and Im going to read it again shortly. Maybe its fashionable to slate these ex SAS lads, but I enjoyed the book and I think they deserve every penny they get!

I dont read fiction though. I just stick to the factual stuff myself.

Factual? when you read it again, count how much ammo they go through, and how many dead bodies are left behind....Make your own mind up.

Without a doubt a good read, but more embelishment me thinks than cold hard fact :drinking:
"Every man an Emperor!"
