THE SA80 A WEAPON OF TOTAL SHIT IN THE EARLIER DAYS. NOT RECONCILED DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THE GOVERMENT PUT IN TO IT BEING DEVELOPED. WE THEN WERE BLESSED WITH THE SA80 LA2 . Padre I'm facing east as I type this and have a tea towel on my head!
I remember confirmation classes, only went as I fancied Sharon Jones something chronic!
But to be fair quite enjoyed it, we had one of the new breed of Padres who played electric guitar etc, he was ex-army aswell.
Come the day of the race, the local Bishop blessed me and we sang abit, drank some wine etc etc.
I was raised a christian, in a very religious family, but although I believe in a god and christian values, not too sure on the man himself. Especially after you read so much on what the romans did and how they twisted it all.
Have you read Holy Blood Holy Grail? Better than Dan the mans book. I used to rent a flat off a vicar and he nearly kicked me out during one of our discussions (you know the one where he tries to get you to goto church!) and flipped when I mentioned Jesus was a Jew! He went mad!!! Well he wasnt a farking christian was he
Bit concerned you having guns to play with though Padre, thats worse than a matelot with a gun

Look nice with an Aussie bayonet on it Jim, dead long they were
And Padre, if you`re not going to talk about weapons, nack-off and hold your sunday skool classes somewhere else. `Ksake
Doc, have you ever read "Jesus, the Party Years" It`s all about what JC got up to before he decided to do his dads work (not the Jewish chippy, the heavenly one silly
)

Hi Harry,
Thanks for your usual open-handed and friendly greeting.
As for weaponry - I thought the SLR was the best bit of kit I used and would have prefereed it to the SA80 for a number of reasons. The first being that .223 is a good weapon for close contact, urban fighting situations whereas 7.62mm is a show stopper in every sense.
I grew up fifring the SMLE and had great fun getting wet and trying to hit the pointer with one on Rainham marshes.
GMPG was cool but they did emit nasty hot things which made a girl flinch when they go down the front and lodge in my bra'. That said, was a superlative weapon and apart from having to have a 'friend' when I lumped one around Copehill for a long weekend (ooog, couldn't cross myself for days!) I loved it.
Personal choice was Glocks or Sig, but some daft nation reacted the wrong way to a to55er called Hamilton what used to live in Dunblane.
Now about jesus being Jew, what esle was he going to be?
BTW - what's with the lying the SA80 down and is change arms the modern version of slope and order? Take it that this is because of size and the like.
As for LSW, 30 rounds but not continuous and range (I know, I've been an instructor fr many years and have taught .22 is lethal at a mile - but still more chance of sleeping with Madonna that being killed by .22 at a mile I reckon!) is limited - Think 9mm might have been the way to go. That said why not weaponry like the FN, AK47, SLR (added M16 even) - all 'test of time' weapons - we look like we've moved to a Tavor type lookalike.
Still, hear the A2 is a great improvement, hope I get a chance to play with one even though I is Padre person!

My only grumble with the SA80 is the position of the change lever it always gets knocked on to automatic. And couldn't the safety have been better placed aswell, i don't like having to take my left hand off the rifle to put it on safe.
I never got a stopage in training but i did see one spectacular stopage where one lads working parts welded themselves stuck in the rear position. could have been due to lack of oil though.

`Kinnel Bish, stop picking on me
If I give you an easy time mate, the lad`s`ll think I`ve gorn all soft and user-friendly and that would never do. And you`re fooling no one talking about your favourite bang-sticks
JR where for art thou moving to? Somewhere else in sunny hilly Norfolk is it? I thought the OZ had a twenty-four inch bayo when they was on their world tour of North Africa. Looks like a bleeding cutlass
Somewhere I should have a phot from our last range day, of Dinger Bell scaring the children with one, back in a tick
Oh, yes, nearly forgot,
A Sodomite, maybe

Just to let you know I'm still in the process of moving 'Grots' and waiting for the builders to finish, so as you can see I've got a new acquisition the mother of all battles Le-Enfield.Having lost the pump action Mossberg and gained a new baby.'Fix Bayonets'.
And just in case some B'stard decides to help themselves to me prize possessions Think again.Aye (old and bold JR)
Jim,
Put that down before you hurt someone
Looks in good nick.

Bye heck Our Jim you look as happy as Larry there with your pride and joy.
When I went to CTCRM for some course after I had been in the Print Branch for a couple of years it came as a shock to quite a few PW's and DL's that I had never seen or touched an SA80 in my bloody life.
The first few days I was there with all these nice gentlemen shaking their heads and trying to teach me how to clean, strip and do Drill with this (to my eyes) gloryfied lump of LEGO.
I was pineing for an SLR you see.
