The Marines you have spoken to will say that. Whether their Marines, Para's, Guard's, King's, PWRR etc they will make out they are the best., and they do extra special jobs others dont (Pride). We do Artic, Jungle, Desert in my regiment, and so do all other units i have mentioned. Don't take what a few people say as set in stone.dwarfy wrote:SLWILSON wrote:Para's jump out of aircraft obviously even tho u cant jump into a warzone anymore so thats abit usefull so uther than that they r an infantry unit unlike the marines.
The Marines also jump out of aircraft so they do the same job they are also anphibious so they go by see, assault beaches, do cliff assaults and do raids on things at sea like oil rigs nd ships and all sorts,
Marines r also trained in arctic, desert and jungle warfare also the marines got told last year that they have to keep their para trained marines down bcoz they are takin ova the Para's job aswell.
All the marines av spoke 2 says they do more jumps in 2 months that the Paras do in 2 years ( true )....reply,s to this should be interesting, if anyone can be bothered that is.

Firstly, 16AAB are the only viable airborne option in the UK forces, as only they have all the supporting arms dedicated to this task. Every year the Bde trains in this role, and yes it is capable of performing it well. The Airborne role also includes air land (aircraft landing on rough runways) and heli assault, we are not confined to parachuting.
Do you honestly think 3 Cdo Bde does more parachuting than 16 AAB? Who told you that? 'Cos they were BS'ing you.
The Parachute Regiment also trains for many different roles, recently 3 Para also were in the Arctic role, 1 Para are now the SF support Bn. I have personally been trained in mountain and desert warfare, and I am a jungle warfare instructor.
So basically, wind your neck in and stop quoting crap that you have read in some kids magazine.
PS I would expect better spelling and English from a student too.

well said shrek, exactly how it should be. it might seem naive coming from myself, but these '.... versus ..... threads' seem to come from non-serving types? anybody else noticed that the serving or ex-serving see them for what they are and the part they all play together. www
