I read it, so thats me ********d then.
And i didnt even have to use swear words
Unfortunately people have short minds the news of the world did some fantastic coverage of our boys during Op Telic and were a great support to those left at home.
Enough said.
Apart from there are some kids on this site so please mind what you write.
And all this from a guy who has animal mutilation on his profile as well as the C word.

Chappy, it doesn't matter what paper brings this story to light. It just shouldnt be happening in the first place. They are not exactly framing the squad or lying are they? The assaulters have done the deed and should be punished to the full extent. kicking in the b******s? headbutting with a helmet on? its absolutely disgraceful. WWW

Doc, not sure if your taking the michael or what,(could be a blonde moment)
but if a grenade is chucked into a compound then of course you are going to react. These 'kids' let loose but werent prepared for the retaliation which i feel was justified, although perhaps in not so vicious an attack. But in hindsight there is so much going on in the world with regards to these Danish cartoons and i do use those words freely. The whole 'islam' thing is a tinderbox and people are using any and i repeat those words ANY excuse for any kind of violence.
I`ll copy and paste my comment from somewhere else:-
'It is time the media stopped taking cheap shots at the forces in Iraq to sell their tat. Allegedly these "innocent" teenagers had been attcking the soldiers with stones and grenades prior to this incident. Saying "Go away and stop being naughty" is not the way in a war zone.
Try writing your story from Iraq not in a cosy Fleet St office with a cup a coffee in hand. This is two years old, maybe it was a slow news week, or the NOTW want to create a bigger divide than there currently is. '
If you want WWW we could have let them surrender to the mob, pretty much like the 6 RMP did.
PS. NOTW has CLEARLYdubbed over the top of that video.

I was asked to post this here. It has appeared on another forum but I was told it was valid and should be shared:
May I humbly point out that the News of the World is a newspaper that apears to know nothing of integrity, this may be seen in:
a. It's dealing with Sven Joren Erikson and their actions surrounding it, and
b. The 'shock, horror' footage from Iraq. If they had half a care about the 'public interest' or the longevity of our (and other) troops posted in Iraq then this material would have been passed to the proper authorities so that it could be dealt with without gaining them publicity and sales.
I don't buy this excuse for a newspaper and will actively canvas others to avoid it. This attitude has been echoed by members of ex-servicemen's groups and will hopefully grow. The only way to get integrity in reporting is to hit them where their heart is and that's the wallet not the 'public interest'.
May I point out a quick paraphrase from Matthew 7 (after all, that's my job!):
The way that you judge others will be reflected in the way that you are judged by others.
The Bible (Proverbs) also says that those who dig a pit to trap others will eventually fall into it themselves!

You had me there Bish, right up to the quote from Mathew 7(No relation to Blake`s 7, I`spose)
I was right there.
I was even going to jump in with a "Sun on Merseyside" sketch to support your contention that certain newspapers are a load of sheites. But you lost it when you went all biblical on me
How are you doing Padre? Busy weekend was it?
Our own Bish down here is gutted because we hold our adventure training stuff on a Sunday when he`s busy
Bless me Padre

Hi HH,
Sorry to have lost you with the Bible bit but that's what I is here for I guess (but hopefully not to lose you with it!).
Busy weekend is every weekend - 3 services, funeral visit and that sort of thing. Same again next week but will swap funeral for baptism (much nicer).
Burying an ex South Staffs man tomorrow so hoping the old sweats will be coming but not comfirmed as yet.
Regards to all our readers,
P

sister paper of the sun. enough said from my point of view
print lies and goes with whatever is the flavour of the month. no itegrity nor shame..
unfortunately flavour of this month is this. Whatever it takes to sell a paper...read the entirity of that rag and tell me how much is truth. yes a video is shown (or in pictures). the writing towards it is however questionable.

I completely agree with you WWW. Showing the world what can happen is a necessity. Facts matter. If not, then the Iraqis and the rest of the world are not seeing the same events and thier interpretations of conditions will be different. Should reporters simply have neglected the My Lai massacre, Abu Gharib, Hiroshima? There not exactly comparable examples, but reporters do not have to answer for governments and it is thier job to report - not to deliberate about the political consequences. I dont red the NOTW, but it doesnt matter who publishes this news. Its even better that a British paper printed it rather than allowing it to be released by a foreign paper - damage control you see. If British civil society isnt taking sides, alls better for it.Wee Willy Winkie wrote:Chappy, it doesn't matter what paper brings this story to light. Especially when the f@#k who was filming - whether he is a soldier or not is irrelevent - seemed to get so much pleasure from it!
