RSC Looking for Advice

Post by spoiltprincess25 »

I have my RSC in about 3 weeks and am struggling with the heaves. Can anyone tell me how many are expected for women joing the QA's and if anyone knows any good excercises to practice.

I did my RSC at Pirbright on the 11th/12th jan. If you give 100% in all the tasks you will do good. I dont know how many Heaves/pull ups are required for the QA's, but some lads! on my selection did not get beyond 2 and they where going for infantry and the teeth arms and they still passed.

My suggestion to get better at heaves is to buy one of those pull up bars from argos that fit in door ways. (about £8)and every 15 mins or 30mins go and do a set of heaves and at the end of the week you will notice the improvement. If you cant get your hands on a pull up bar, you could also use the crossbar on the goals at your local football field.

Another suggestion is to get a broom handle or a sturdy stick wedge it between 2 chairs. Lie in the gap between the 2 chairs with your feet on the floor and practice pulling yourself up.

if you have any more questions il try to answer them!
Good luck!

i started off being able to do 3 and now i can usually get to at least 8 after trying to improve them in the last 2 weeks, just do them as often as you can, combined with press ups you can only get better

Giving advice over a forum about phys is a bit like piddling into the wind.
As we don't know your build, age, stamina, physical attributes... please go to a gym and seek th eadvice of someone there who can help. I assume you are a female and our girls do inclined pull ups (heaves) at 45 degrees with feet supported.
Drums beating, colours flying and bayonets fixed...

Any bicep exercise in the weightroom will help you out with heaves, don't worry too much about it, when I did RSC last year, some dude who was joining the Household Cavalry didn't get a single one. He still passed.

It is mostly chest muscles that are used for heaves and because females have tits they don't have as strong chest muscles as a average bloke.
Women do inclined heaves for this reason.

Any female that can do 5 normal heaves I have respect for.

Actually, it is mostly biceps, latissimus dorsi, rhomboids, posterior deltoids and trapesius muscles. That is to say, mostly your back muscles.

And, the reason women don't have as strong pectorals as men, is because generally speakin, women aren't as strong as men. It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with breast tissue

Tit indeed..
