Happy erm! erm! ....nice baubles!!

Happy Christmas??? Nooooooooooooo... its Happy Holiday! I mean come on we don't want to upset the Non-Christians do we?

A definite war has been waged on Christmas to remove any mention of it during the Christmas season. Have you noticed a consistent and relentless move to culturally pressure shops, organisations, and individuals to remove the words "Merry Christmas" from their advertising, decorations and any promotional materials?

What the f*ck is so offensive about the word "Christmas" anyway? and whats this about the "Christmas Tree" to be renamed "Holiday tree" O yea riiiiight I can see it now "Holiday Trees" for sale... hoping all our customers have a Happy politically correct Holiday!

Well that’s the mistletoe out for a start - sexual disease and/or harassment ... oh, and no carol singers, or Nativity plays - don't want to let slip the name 'Christ' ... so we may as well forget about Jesus Christ all together you know just in case we hurt someone’s feelings. O Jesus-a-Christ - oops sorry!!!! :fist:

(not my words - but sums it up I think)
“Cultural sensitivity has become a bureaucratic obsession, with the fear of causing unintentional insult becoming so strong that it has driven the powers-that-be beyond the edge of reason, plunging officialdom into an apparently senseless attack upon even the most innocent traditions.”

Here's how it is...Some of you may remember it from a year or so back...It is still has the same message....PC stinks.

Politically correct Christmas greeting to keep the socialists happy

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, the wisher's best
wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low
stress, on-addictive, gender neutral, celebration of the summer/winter
solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the
religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your
choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions
of other, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions
at all and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically
uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted
calendar year 2003 , but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make this Country great, not to imply that this great Country is necessarily
greater than any other country nor is the only great Country in the world, and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability,
religious faith, choice of computer platform, or sexual preference of
the wishee.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms. This greeting
is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with
no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher
to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others, and
is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.

This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual
application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until the
issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher. The wishes further agrees to hold harmless and indemnify the wisher, along with its heirs, assigns, officers, directors, shareholders

I agree, PC has gone a bit far, but try to see it from thier perspective.

Youre living in a country where for a month all mainstream media is blaring about a false religions holiday, and if you dont celebrate it, your seen as wierd and singled by others, even if you dont believe it, and not only that but celebrating it costs alot of money, as your friends expect you to get them things for this false holiday, and if you have any children they want expensive crappy useless toys because thats what everyones got right now, and if you dont get them it there going to be bullied and beaten by school mates.

I can see how it gets annoying for non christians such as myself (athiest)

All though as I get presents bought for me its not that bad :)

By the way, did you know that christmas and easter arent actually christian holidays, they are old pagan holidays which the romans added a christian spin to to try to increase spending.

Doc, ref Myfanwy, that`s not a bracelet round her wrist you know 8)
It would be offensive to people who have never had love beads inserted anally and jerked out during the vinegar strokes, for me to tell you what they are.
So don`t ask me :o

The phrase "when in Rome do as the Romans do" comes to mind.

The poeple with the issue about Xmas, most come from abroad, and so being blunt.. if they don't like it they can fark off.
Youre living in a country where for a month all mainstream media is blaring about a false religions holiday, and if you dont celebrate it, your seen as wierd
They're living in a country, where the majority of the people celebrate Xmas (if not because of their religion, just because it's fun) and so they should either keep quiet or just celebrate it with the rest of us... not cause a problem, regarding or customs in our country that THEY decided to come and live in.

A mate of mine is a card-carrying Red Sea pedestrian (not carrying his card just at the moment as he's playing silly bu@@ers in the sand box). He's a big lad (about 6'6" and over 300lbs (21 stone)), so to be honest it wouldn't make a scrap o' dif' if I was to get pouty over him saying "Happy Hanuka". While "Hanuka (sp?) means the square root of naff all to me, it does to him, so when he says it, I know he means it. My usual response of, "Sod off! You people killed Jesus!" (which is great as it can be used for just about anything he says) is always taken in the spirit in which it is offered. :P But, when I say, "Merry Christmas, mate!" he knows I wish him and his well and knows also that, while our respective beliefs will never meet in the middle, we can agree as friends to disagree. In any case, adjacent to his gun room (which is 10 times the size of mine!), he has a very good selection of the finest single malts known to man and there is NOTHING that cannot be resolved over a good scotch!
