I was just wondering what the Para's Dress Uniforms look like? A picture would be nice.

Oh and just found this one:

I think this was a combat jump (hence the green)

But it clearly shows how "Deathfromabove" got his name:

I wandered into the army air corps crew room at Aldergrove one sunny day to discover all the pilots wearing puttees over their high top flying boots. Why? asks little bootneck innocent. Cos it is designed to prevent us standing out from the rest of the ground forces if we have a forced landing etc replies annoyed WO2 army type pilot. Which cult decided that asks innocent booty?; I did replies same WO2, so I got that right then replies I. That explains why we were not allowed to wear our flameproof ovies in NI but had to revert to ordinary nylon/cotton denims and combat jackets etc. and on and on and on.

I have just realised my visionary powers. When I posted a snapshot of one of DFAs sad cousins (191427ZJune2002) little did I know it would be phaseolus multiflorus aka feathers emerging from his cosset stage.....

Never did approve of probation, a good floggin with the cat, or maybe keel hauling.

By the way Neck in has nothing to do with your nocturnal habits feathers!

Uniform

Post by El Prez »

A good friend of mine (former pongo REME) turned up at a biker do wearing a cap comforter with one of royal's shoulder flashes sewn to the front (Royal Marines Commando). I quietly said, "If you ain't done the course, don't wear the badge" and wandered away. Five minutes later I returned and repeated my previous comment, plus "take it off now". he finally got the message. 8)

What is it about Perce?

We used to have to shave opur best BD to get the fuzz off it. Mind you it was a work of art to try and get it to look right. Thats when you weighed your trouser down with chains to get them to hang properly, and to get your beret to look a bit better you used to shrink them by dipping them in one sink of boiling water, then into a sink of cold water. Mind you if you got wrong it was like putting a condom on your head.
