As for coloured berets, that's tradition. Every distinction in the Kate is there for a reason and helps instill pride in the team. Are you sure those red hats were monkeys and not light cavalry? Did you check the cap badges?

hello people im back !!
Doc I agree with you about JLR. Not about Bovvie though - that is the seat of the Gods - "armour school". You must never say bad things about it again or we'll have to send you down to the Bovvie 'hop' some thursday to have your gonads massaged by the WRACS (or whatever they call themselves these days).

I was a monkey in training and we wore red (not all the time though as usually we all wore RAC black berets and RAC Yellow and red stable belts)
There were shitty brown lids, light blue AAC, Cpl of Horses, and all sorts of bizarre things shapes and ranks.
My troopy was a right lardy dah rupert but a great bloke.
I remeber marching up for my £15 quid a week pay and the rest going into the bank for me!
I was made a JNR lance Jack after 4 weeks and actually really enjoyed JLR, except the PTIs who hated the posting and it showed when they beasted us.
Last time I was there was when I was with 40 on attachment and we yomped through there in the dead of night on the way to Lulworth Cove to meet the Landing Craft of the fearless.
I think there was more life at 2am and it was dead then

No mate. I'm sure it's just as tough in exactly the same way as it was for us. I know some things have changed but it's still the British Army you're in and although the occasional wassock slips though the net I can tell you're not one of them.
You enjoy your time in mate. Make the best of it and most of all have a good time doing it. When it stops being good for you - that's the time to get out.

another bit of advice i got from a nco in charge of me when i was in biff troop was when you been told to do something when you think your finished take a step back look at it and if you think you can do it a bit better do it do it again if not its prob good enough. he said your army career is all about effort give enough and you will ahve fun
preperation prevents piss poor performance!!!! the 5 p's follow that and your army career will go smoothly
