Back into the mists of time when the barrack square would be filled with the various companies awaiting inspection and on the day of a memorable date in the history of the Royal Corps,the citation would be read out a bevy of buglers (sorry sticks but they were all skin in those days) would sound a fanfare on silver bugles,but I suppose in this day and age it would be considered to political to remember past deeds.

Political correctness (here we go again) during the 70's Royals night at Earls Court when the Globe and Laurel was suspended from the ceiling minus the battle honour 'Gibraltar' the powers to be at that time did'nt want to upset the visiting Spanish Marine display team? Ah.

getting back to St Georges day,regardless of your origin,be it Welsh,Irish,Scots the action at Zeebrugge binds us together as a family.

Corps memorial dates are still remembered in the same way JR.
The Gibralter from the Corps Crest happened agasin in the 90s... same reason, same people and I saw it. Absolute bollacks in my opinion.

St Patrick's day gets the coverage and support it still gets because America commercialised it... shall we sell them the rights to St George's day?

There is a pub landlord somewhere, in this green and pleasant land, that was refused an extension to celebrate St Georges Day because he couldn't prove that it was a special day. He turned up at the appeal wearing knights armour, with a lot of his mates in the same rig with a gert big petition and still didn't get the extension!!
The ludicrous thing was, that the previous February he had been allowed an extension to celebrate

I wish we could have a Cross of St. George flag, with the Corps badge inset at the top left hand sector, that I would really enjoy flying, just to listen to the comments from the great unwashed.

more I would point out that there were, and no doubt still are,
one helluva lot of men from the Celtic nations
serving in the Corps.

It this little Englander attitude that gets right up our noses
and why we love to see your teams getting cuffed in
whatever sport they are competing in.

I presume you are a Celt and by the sound of it, have a hatred of anything English. That is fine. You are as much entitled to your opinion as I am.
What my gripe is - we are allowed to celebrate, Burn's Night.
St. Davids Day, St Andrews Day, St Patricks Day, Chinese New Year and even , according to Tesco's today - Happy Feast of the Passover.!!
But NOT St. Georges Day!
Today is St. Georges Day!! Why are we not doing something about it.? There is a small group that call themselves the St George Society. We all ought to join.
