Life on 'the' or 'an' ocean wave ?

Post by Antubis »

From a search it looks like Sticky Blue might be the man with the answer to this silly trivial question but.... Is it 'Life on an Ocean wave' or 'Life on the Ocean Wave'

Couple of different albums have differing song titles - just wondered what the official one was

Cheers

Luckily none of the LC rates are online, their first question would be 'what ocean?'
They think it's the theme tune to Grandstand.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

 Oh here we 'bloody'well go again,You lot have marched off the parade enough times to the Regimental March 'A life on the Ocean wave'
all together now.
A life on the ocean wave,
A home on the rolling deep
Where the scattere'd waters rave
And the wind their revels keep.
Like an eagle cag'd I pine
On this dull unchanging shore;
O give me the flashing brine,
The spray and the tempest's roar.

Quick march! Hay foot, straw foot, hay foot straw foot??????.Aye JR

one, two, three, altogether now...

A Life on the Ocean Wave,
A home on the rolling deep,
Where the scattered waters rave
And the winds their revels keep

A Life on the Ocean Wave,
A home on the rolling deep,
Where the scattered waters rave
And the winds their revels keep
Like an eagle caged I pine
On this dull unchanging shore,
Oh give me the flashing brine
The spray and the tempest's roar

Once more on the deck I stand
Of my own swift gliding craft
Set sail farewell to the land
The gale follows fair abaft
We shoot through the sparkling foam
Like an ocean bird set free
Like an ocean bird, our home
We'll find far out on the sea

The land is no longer in view
The clouds have begun to frown
but with a stout vessel and crew
We'll say let the storm come down
And the song of our hearts shall be
While the wind and waters rave
A life on the heaving sea
A home on the bounding wave
Drums beating, colours flying and bayonets fixed...
