654 CS Squad commenced training at the Depot RM 13 April 1956 -
We now number twenty for our Fiftieth Anniversary Reunion in October 06.
This is what it is all about, the Corps.
Fifty years on and we're still family - planning to call in the Squad - again.
We will be meeting in May because one of our number is coming up from Oz
( Dress Rehearsal - " before his fire goes out " ) - and we'll be doing things in
style at the 'Country Club' in October -
I wish all of you lads starting off now a good term of service -
I hope that you will stay together as a team - all the way.
We still stand up to be counted - do the same

Well done Trog man, in trawling the fleshpots and bordellos of the world in your epic quest to locate Former Members.

And they came from lands both far and near,
almost too many to be mentioned 'ere -
From far off Kernow and the Isle of Wight
yay, almost up to the oozing Wear -
with droll and merriment into the night.
George, the Wizard of Oz and Fam - and Me from the land of Never Never. Folk from deepest Lunnen and darkest Dev'n.
Fowerteen of us made the day. - Not a bad Dress Rehearsal.
In our numbers we had shining members who made the grade
as Colours and RSM's and even a Captain of great Gunnery -
and a DI who was famed for his Snow White rendition -
even though he was better qualified for Grumpy ..... Him from Wales.
We lower ranks survived on scrumpy -
and wondered why the road got bumpy.
What a Day ! Enormous ! And no-one had changed a bit - well, ok.
A couple I'd have recognised on the street - even after fifty years.
We had great pleasure of the hospitality of RMA Portsmouth -
Did the Museum - and Gunwharf - and Victory - and - lots more.
Declined the 'catapult' thingy - even though some of us were tempted.....
'Our' Sticks - Mark, of these excellent forums, earned the admiration of all
by turning up with souvenirs for ALL present ! A whole bergen full of pleasure - which was well appreciated by the congregation.
- Well done Mark and many thanks from all of us.
Hopefully we will ALL be present in Ocober - and who knows ?
Perhaps with more old/young oppos............
The years rolled away - medicine for most. Fuel for Georges fire,
maybe it'll burn a bit longer now. ( And a couple more of the 'lads' who
also have their share of similar 'timetables' )
Of the YO's we had with us in trainiing, about six or seven, three of them
made Major General !
We must have had a good year in '56, we're still world famous
Take care,
