Soldier to Officer

Is it possible to go in as a soldier...do basic and what not, study and get 180 ucas points and then apply for a commision??? Or can you only apply at a certain rank

or would you need to leave and then re join....as that sounds a bit counter pro ductive?

Hey

I have been doing a lot of research on the Army website, Armourer looks like it would be relatively interesting as a career

.... Anyone here do it and care to give some insight

and also it says

As an REME soldier you can also volunteer for the Special Forces

would this be as an armourer or ...

Okay so why do all the careers that i find really interesting always seem to not give very much when you leave the forces.

I mean if you are an electrician you get a trade and stuff when you get out...

but what do Infantry or Tankies get out of Army life....except the best life ever..... i mean ...

Okay, SAS reserve selection..... is it a straight off test from the word go. I mean do you turn up and the first thing you do is go belting around the beacons....or is it gradual.

Say turn up pass the BFT......then 3 weeks later the 4 week test week...then a break .....then the next part...and ...

Yeah , cheers for the input lads.... i am 22 years old, yeah and the college course is only 1 year long. I would be sitting Highers ...the Jock version of A levels. I probs would go RM Officer..but if i end up too old then i am sure theres other places to get a commision....either way i need my 180 ...

Flaws in My Career Plan....Oppinions please

Okay

Here is my plan and as is said above please identify any flaws in my plan.
I wish to apply for a commission however in order to do so it is imperative that i return to college to gain 180 ucas points.

Now college cant start till September next year...probably ending in June 2011.
