Re: Thinking about joining up to the TA
Sit ups and press ups will come after selection and will be part of your PFA when your in, but you might aswell start now and get some practise on heaves (Pull up with a under handed grip). Because there on selection its not pass or fail but you wanna look your best.

Re: Thinking about joining up to the TA
yeh dont worry about the cans its it a run its walking, just keep pace with the pti. Shudn't take long to get down from 15mins but keep aiming for 10:30 cause thats what your need by time you pass out. The fitter you are the easier phase 1 will be, I did 10:10 in selection but others in my troop ...

Re: Thinking about joining up to the TA
You need to be fit, what ever level your at you want to be aiming higher alot of the tests on selection are based on effort so work hard. You will need to do the 1.5mile run in under 14minutes and no walking and you will do a jerry can carry 20kg in each arm for 180m I dont think thats a pass or ...

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Yeh theres no quick fix. 1.5 mile shouldn't be to taxing for your legs its just intense on the lungs. So try adding a day at the gym on the rowing machine between running days to help build your lungs up + its low impact. When I started out I ran every chance I got and nothing else got my time down ...

Re: army fitness test
Im sure the bleep test is a Marine Test not heard of the army using it. But the bleep test works in levels every time it speeds up your going up a level the aim is to get to the highest level you can. A PTI starts with you to get you into the rythm.

Re: army fitness test
It needs to be under 14mins to pass, but the goal at the end is to be at 10:30. You may have been told 10:30 because theres so many people applying there only going to take the best there, so you may pass all the tests but still get sent away if you have only met the minimum requirements. So Id ...

Used to delier to jag there just off spitfire island but never mind that
I shouldn't worry to much then if your capable of running under 10:30 you will do it on the day. Easy to take it easy or give up when training but when the goals infront of you, your find that exra energy. If you throw ...

Re: Royal engineers questions
Couldnt tell you figures but upper body strength and grip are going to be important, so try your very best to complete the jerry can test and put in max effort on everything. saying that anything over 10 heaves is good. Where you from? I went to school in Lichfield.

Re: Jerry cans
Its not really time as you will do it in a group keeping to a pace set by the pti which I believe is 5.4kph. I was told its manily to check for people with weak wrists so you dont snap during basic but it could be a fail if your joining the engineers, bits of bridge aint light. The run is pass or ...
