My son has curently completed 3 tours of afghanistan (1 with 45CDO and 2 with ASGRM), there are various ways to keep in touch with your loved one, the obvious is to write letters, the lads look forward to these and they can be a highlight when times are tough.

My Son is out there at the moment (you lot may know him as Beardo, he used the site a lot whilst in training at Lympstone), he's serving with RM ASG (Vikings)

He speaks very highly of the lads in CLR especially the Viking Support Group, and how they keep the wagons on the road.

ASC RM have taken up permanent residence in ganners, they have been there ever since the "Viking" was deployed.

My Lad is out there with them at the moment, and will deploy again in September when 3 cdo brigade take over from the Para's.

The Viking Lads are doing six on six off at the moment...

1 Rifles are attached to 3 cdo bde now and I believe they are based at Chepstow ?

Hi all

This question may be a bit bone.., but please bear with me!!

My son went on his second tour to Ganners on December 4th, He is in the Armoured Support Squadron based a Bovington.

Question is, Is it normal to hear nothing from them, we have not heard a peep from him since he got there!!

Talked to my lad yesterday evening, and upon some reflection on his part, and a chat with his boss, he has decided to stick it out.

He sounds much happier now, apparently he can pick all sorts of courses to go on whilst on this duty, and also still gets to go ...
