Re: Marine engineer's pass rates?

When I went through my engineering training a few years ago I think all but one of a class of 26 passed. The one that didn't make it went back a couple of weeks and passed out behind us so it wasn't a big problem.

The pre selection test is based on maths, mechanical comprehension and spelling/gramour. It's nothing to difficult; when you go to the careers office they will give you a practice booklet with example questions. As long as you revise you shouldn't have any issues. The fitness test is just the 1.5 mi...

It's not a direct entry branch so you would have to join as another rating (probably submariner) and then transfer over after a few years service.

New Web Site

Looks like the Royal Marines have had an overhaul of their web site.

Have a look at the video at the top of the page; 'IT'S A STATE OF MIND'.

Up and Running stores will check your gate for you. Just remember that everyone is different; I have been running in Asics that may have been the cause of my mild shin splints and some knee pain. That is not because Asics are bad running shoes. It is because the type of Asics shoe I had was not suit...

I would say a look on the Royal Navy web site but after a quick scan it doesn't look like it has been updated with the current whereabouts. I would guess Plymouth but could be wrong.

Like ReadyEddie says, the questions are all basic and easy enough to answer. They asked me about some of the different ships in the surface fleet and there roles. Family and social circles is another area that gets covered but again, nothing to worry about. My eye site is quite poor and I also wear ...

I have read a few articles about runners adding rowing to their training program because the compliment each other very well. Looks as though that could be the case; I managed to take 3 minutes 40 seconds off my 1.5 mile time without running for about 3 months. I just rowed 4 -5 times every week. Ei...

I have applied as a Marine Engineer and just need my start date now. The wait for my branch is nine months so I am just playing a waiting game now. I applied in April so expect to go around January but that could easily change.

Engineering Technician (Marine Engineering) Waiting

Does anybody know what the wait is currently at for Raleigh? I passed my PJFT back in May but was advised it could be 9 months from when I applied (April). I noticed that Meggie's daughter got her start date pretty much straight away but she is going into a different branch. Hopefully there are some...

That's great news!

I am in the same boat; just waiting for my start date which could be anytime. When I applied I was told it would be around nine months from April so I am hoping for a date in January.

You will complete a fitness test when you get to Raleigh. The details are in the booklet that your AFCO should have given to you (if you have applied). If you are 24 or under then you have to achieve some like this: 1.5 mile run in under 11 minutes 13 seconds 30 press ups 30 sit ups 50 metre swim in...

I did my interview early in May and discussed the majority of things that other people have mentioned. I also got asked the difference between a Frigate and a Destroyer but I guess this question could vary. Also, the fitness test requirements once at Raleigh and the PJFT time I had to achieve to be ...
