I had Shin Splints my first time around at Lympstone and believe me you saved yourself a world of hurt by pulling out now, good move.
The best thing I could recommend to you, that has worked for me. Is that you do some kind of resistance exercise to help strengthen your calf muslces, So Calf raises ...

Hey,
I really feel for you man as my first time around at Lympstone I had to leave due to interior shin splints. However it's now 2 years later, I'm not running due to an operation I've just had, but when I was running shin splints didn't seem too much of a problem.
For me what really helped them ...

Yeah what he said,.. It also helps to develop hand eye co-ordination! If you are having trouble getting the rythmn try just doing sets of 20 seconds or so, to build up your technique.

Well I'd advise just doing your press ups the RM way (Elbows tucked, head up!). The way I train for press ups is doing 3 sets with a 2 minutes rest inbetween each one and maxing out on each set. Alot of people are gonna be thinking thats too long rest inbetween sets but it works for me.

I reckon you should just take it all mate. Keep it in your foot locker if you don't need it don't take it out, if you do then your set! Nothing wrong with over preparing.

I think consistancy is the most important thing, doing one running a week and killing yourself wont do all that much to affect your overall fitness but doing 3 runs a week with moderate intensity will.
As for the pullups you could always buy a pull up bar from Argos ( £8 ) and just do press ups ...

Yeah I wouldnt lie about it, but I thought that there might be a very small chance that it could slip pasted the medical. And then if i got to do the PRMC and proform as well as im planning to proform I'll have much more ground to stand on when they do find out.
Any ways hopefuly it wont be an issue ...

Oh ok, well to be truthful I dont really want to let them know. If there's even the smallest chance that I might be able to slip it past them at the medical I want to. I'm pretty sure I could get my surgeon to write me a good letter right away.

Desperate to rejoin but may have complications

Hey guys,
I'm new to the forums, I was in Royal Marines training down at Lympstone in Feb of 06. I eventually left training due to a severe case of shin splints and some personal problems. All I've thought about since I've left is rejoining and I've always intended to. However about 8 months ago I ...
