To my mind they should bin the Fleet Protection Group and reform them as another Cdo unit and let the Rifles do the FPG's job thus solving the problem of manpower shortages within 3 CDOBDERM. It's all part of this Governments plan to mess up a system thats worked since 1664 as far as I can see ...

One of my lads is going for this at the moment - I spoke to the C/Sgt at 848 and the WO (RN) who runs the grading at Shawbury and got the following dit:

Basic maths (i.e. STD and BODMAS needs to be shit hot) and spatial orientation are the two that are testing during your grading flights. The ...

99.99%

Didn't apply, and the campaign was a complete failure. Hence the new one - sometimes trying to be an "elite" doesn't quite work!

From the Royal Navy site.

"You'll begin your Officer training on an initial salary of £21,000, increasing to over £32,000 after two years."

He's talking out his £21,000 a year ass.

An admiral in the RN earn £67,000 per year.

Add in Cat 5 SM pay, double nuclear watchkeeper's pay and you'll be ...

SRR selection

Mate,

ring the number on the DIN (02157 off the top of my head) to speak to the Training Wing. They'll then be able to give you dates of presentations given by either the Training Major or his WO2. Get yourself to one of these and all will be answered.

As a hint, nothing I've found on the ...

Mate, it sucks! I used lots of brufen, rest and sensible about getting back into the phys. I went swimming and cycling to reduce the impact on the knee - frustrating I know, but there's bugger all point in rushing it and completely f*cking it!

Hope it gets better soon!

slightly off-topic

What's the difference between the TA CIC and TA PARA CIC? Was looking at the School of Infantry Website (http://www.army.mod.uk/hqschinf/itc_catterick/index.htm) and there are 2 distinct courses; "Combat Infantryman’s Short Course (TA)" and "Combat Infantryman’s Short (PARA TA)".....

just wondering

Appointers

The RN/RM Officers Career Manangement is dealt by a body of men and women known as appointers (much like Mil Sec for you lot). Towards the end of your first job you will sit down with the Appointer and talk about where you see your career going. At this point you can look to specialise; it's a grown ...

SRR Briefing

All,

just had an informative chat with the WO2 who runs the entire recruit thing for them. Phys is based around yomping, with all SF candidates now undertaking the same 2 week indoctrination; basically the first 2 weeks of hills.

If anybody wants some more info, PM me, or ring the number of DIN 02 ...

SRR Fitness

Any ideas on the type of fitness required for these lads; lots of bergan work (a la SAS/SB) or more an assualt course/long hard beasting type (a la "The Operators")? I've been trying to get hold of them via the number listed in the DIN, but no joy.

Cheers,

Al

Selection route selection

Bone question (which I think I know the answer to...):

I take it roads and paths are out of bounds when yomping around on selection?

I'd love to

but you and I both know that an SO3 can't decide what is unclass and what isn't.

but....
the general gist of it is that 3 years service, your CO's permission and passing SB pre-selection (mandatory for all prospective SBS candidates) are all you need to go forward to selection proper. As for the ...
