First off, no it is not!

People join the TA knowing fine well they may be called up to serve in operations abroad. The main problems lie with soldiers not being fully training and being unfit to serve.

I myself am in the TA and would jump at the chance to serve, not because I am a wannabe hero ...

Going back to the original post, you can go straight into Officer training with the TA. I am currently on module two of TAOC (TA Officers Course) and there is a mix of UPO's (Unit Potential Officers) and Direct Entrants. If you want to know anymore PM or e-mail me.

Seems a lot of us have been in the same situation that we couldn't be arsed towards the end of school, I'm lucky though just managed to scrape 6 C's, Scottish Highers though which are easier than A Levels unless you're a dunce like me.

Ain't the end of the world though there is always another way ...

8% of those who go to the POC make it as Officers in the Royal Marines, its a hard slog but if its what you wanna do and what you've dreamt about don't accept anything less.

If it were me I would do the resits and go for it. Difference this time around is you know that you need to concentrate on ...

Hey,

Great forum full of useful information, keep it up guys. As for me I'm 18 and been in the TA for a few months however now I'm crossing over to the UOTC to get my commission hopefully. After graduation I hope to join the Royal Scots as an Officer.

Great forum full of useful information, keep it up guys. As for me I'm 18 and been in the TA for a few months however now I'm crossing over to the UOTC to get my commission hopefully. After graduation I hope to join the Royal Scots as an Officer.
