Here's a thought. Consider your press-ups to be the equivalent of bench presses. Think of your performance problem to be the equivalent of hitting a plateau on bench presses. The most common reason for hitting a plateau is overtraining. Switch from your current endurance-training model to a strength ...

Mitch, I need a British-American language translation here. By press-up are you talking about what Americans would call a push-up, i.e., your palms flat on the floor and you use your arms to raise and lower your chest? Or are you talking about a bench press, where you lie flat on your back on a ...

proud to be an American.
More like "fortunate." This proud to be an American stuff sets me teeth a-grindin'. Especially when you hear it from the Christian right wing. They of all people ought to know that pride's a sin.

Hey all you Euros, if you think the U.S. is a selfish, grasping, cynical, destructive global hegemon, just wait until we're supplanted by China. You'll be wishing for the day.

I can shrink them for you. It's a special technique involving extensive massage. I don't charge anything for it. When can you fly to Seattle?

Hey AmericanAirborne, I'm an American just like you and have some friendly advice: Don't worry so damn much about being liked. Americans are so pathetic in this regard. Ooooh, do they like us? I've had some of the most unbelievable conversations with fellow Americans who are about to travel to ...

In many states in the U.S., a homeowner has the absolute right to kill an intruder. I think that's a good policy, although I would add a clause permitting the homeowner to bill the perpetrator's estate for the costs of cleaning the walls and carpet.

As much as I disrespect Bush and think we're being led farther and farther into the abyss, I also believe that it's futile to micromanage troop movements from afar. If Brits don't want their troops in Iraq, then withdraw them. But civilians shouldn't screw around with decisions on where to deploy ...

danny, I think it doesn't really matter very much. We're talking fine points here, and the reality of conditioning is that, unless you're an Olympic athlete, it's a much simpler matter than that.

Prior to circuit training it would be fine to do a light jog, but I wouldn't do a "light jog" before ...

Hey Woody, I'm a civilian but at one point came very close to joining the USMC until they found out I had cataracts and wouldn't let me in. When I was in college and afterwards, I lifted weights and ran like crazy. I got a perfect score on the running component of the USMC's entry physical fitness ...

The battle of Iwo Jima was closely watched and extensively covered in the U.S. media at the time it was fought. For an account of the battle, including its coverage in the news media at the time, I'd highly recommend the book, Flags of Our Fathers.

Some how I don't think homosexual people join the military to get laid.
Oh, I wouldn't be so sure of that. No one can know all the motivations. "Getting laid" is something people in their late teens and 20s are pretty obsessed by whatever their sexual orientation. If you're a young male who ...
