Hi All.

Sorry if I'm causing a bit of confusion! :-?

Got1 - The jacket with insignia, photos, belt and attestation all came from the effects of a gentleman who died about 2 months ago. The lad in the photo is this gentleman. They were acquired by a trader who bought them as a job lot. The trader ...

Here is a photo of the soldier whose effects the jacket came from.

Here is his attestation. His first name was David. I have blanked his surname. His father was in the Royal Navy and with his Meditaranean looks it's tempting to ...

Hi All. Shoulderholster is absolutely right. I know because I e-mailed a pic to the Burma Star Organisation and they confirmed it does belong to V-Force.

****got1**** You're a star! and I am an idiot. Unbelievably they were sown on back to front. Peter Garratt of the excellent Rhodesian Militaria ...

Thanks for all your help so far. Plenty of food for thought.

got1, interesting idea. I think we can agree these badges aren't right for this date of jacket so I'll whip them off and have a look at the backing.

T_T, Thank you. That tallys with what I've been told. I think there's a real serviceman ...

Hi Guys. Thanks for your replies. Yes, the jacket that they're on is a worry as well.

The first 5 numbers of his OR's number are 23179.

I've asked the person from who I obtained the jacket if he knows any more. He seems to be a dealer who sells odds and ends not necessarily militaria so he's not ...

Colour Sergeant Mark Powell of 22. Also RAF Sergeant Mark McLaren.

Let us also remember their colleagues injured in the crash, one of whom is seriously injured.

It is a timely reminder of the importance of the brave and highly skilled RAF personnel who have been 'ferrying' troopers since the days ...

I think the sailors and Marines involved showed admirable survival skills. Everyone talks or cooperates eventually, it's just a question of when.

Never mind the the big four or "I cannot answer that question", tell them what you like as long as it doesn't compromise opsec. I believe that's exactly ...

Many thanks to both. Major Lacoste is the central figure in the above photo.

I looked up Pegasus bridge on Wikipedia and found the photo below. Apparently since you last saw it Harry it's been restored and is indeed part of a museum founded near to the site.

Major G. Lacoste?

Hi all. I have a limited edition print of the action at Arnhem bridge signed Lacoste. I was told this was Major G. Lacoste.

I was wondering if Major Lacoste was a veteran of Market Garden and if he did other paintings. Any information would be gratefully received.

Thank you.
