certainly would recommend one big endurance builder a week... try for an hour and just see how far you can go... nice slow steady pace, should be able to hold a bit of conversation... (even if its with yourself.!!)

Definately, definately agree with this. Yes, the 2 and 3 miler is about speedwork ...

First off welcome to MFAT :D

Secondly listen to Stokey about the weights (especially about free weights, they help improve balance and coordination as well).

About your running, you should be only doing two or so tempo (racey paced) runs a week. I would start with one and build it up from there ...

Get yourself down to your nearest running store and take whatever they recommend. If they have it in last year's stock it's a bonus, but generally take what they recommend because they know a lot better than you and at most running shops they don't sell you rubbish just to get more profit. If in ...

It may seem dead obvious and simple, but try pushing past 30. I remember when I started out I could do around 15, got it up to 20 quickly and then plateaued for a while like you've done. I could only just manage 20 but then I pushed out 25 few times a day and that got my momentum up again.

Also ...

There was one thing that has stuck in the back of my head, which keeps me highly motivated is what a PTI said to us on PRMC ''When the body first begins to tell you to stop and that you've got nothing left to give, is when you've only used up 35% of what you're body is capable off. we want to see ...

A good way of doing it is, running you're 3 miler whilest timing it. That way you push as hard as possible to beat you're PB, then when that circuit is finished and timed, run on until the 30 minuet mark (or even another lap of the 3 mile run) pushing as hard as possible... after a 3 mile best ...

First off I'm sure the post is a great help to new and old members of the site alike. I did help a little, but the idea and majority of the stuff is Stokey's and so he deserves a lot of credit :D

And secondly just something to add to the post (well emphasise from the post really), boredom is the ...

"Shot nine times by Taleban"

Just saw this over at ARRSE. Not fitness or training, but thought this might interest a few of the lads here.

Shot nine times by Taleban, but soldier still led squad to safety

A BRITISH Commando was shot nine times during a Taleban ambush in Afghanistan but still managed to lead his comrades ...

I do HOC (High Octane Cardio) on a treadmill sometimes. Goes like this:

1min jogging, 10 pressups
1min jogging, 9 pressups
1min jogging, 8 pressups
etc until I've done 10mins jogging and 55 pressups

Then after a short rest I do exactly the same on the bike.

I know it's not really interval ...

I've tried this before but it just felt weird...suppose you've gotta get used to it. I usually breathe normally when exercising, but yeah, this is meant to be good advice if you get used to it, I'll have to try it again. Thanks for the tip!

For pressups, try doing three perfect form. Once you can do that, do three pressups every time you come into your room and every time you go out. When you feel ready (should be in no time) then up it to five coming in and out. After a few days try doing ten pressups in a row, if you can (even if you ...

Well my school's liason officer just told me a few weeks ago that his mate had just passed FAT and starting basic soon, hoping to fly Harriers if he could. So it might be getting rarer but there's still a few interested.

FAT? Wossat then? Still talking about Booty officers?

Cheers Artist, must ...

There are certainly a few serving RM who fly, having got to that stage in the old systems. There used to be one on here, Rotary Booty, who flew helos, he'd know far more about it than I if he's still around. He gave me a heads up as I'm considering Aircrew and later possibly transferring to AAC to ...

It appears so:

Entry is highly competitive but there are shortages, so if you have the right combination of qualities, you have a good chance of entry. Opportunities exist for senior non-commissioned officers (SNCOs) to become commissioned officers later in their career, although competition is ...
