I hope that this latest 'brainstorm' gets shit-canned asap! 14 weeks is not nearly enough time to train a British soldier to mantain the very high standards we are used to. Some hoo-ray Henry desk-driver with nothing better to do probably shat out that one!
"only to be ignored by the rest of the ...

Infantry/combat training to be reduced to 14 weeks???!!!
Evening all,
I'm not sure if I heard right, but does anybody know anything more on this very disturbing 'news' story. Apparently there are plans afoot to reduce the Infantry combat training to just 14 weeks!!!!!
I'm in the process of applying and don't think that I would be nearly up to the ...

Hey, the BARB tests are easy to be honest, "Dave is taller than Dan, Who is shorter?". That sort of stuff. The thing to remember though is that speed is of the essence, you are scored on your ability to answer correctly AND quickly. The questions don't get harder exactly, just worded differently ...

mm1306 and SHOOT_ME, Thanks for your replies. Here's my predicament, on my online application I put three choices, however when I went for my initial meeting at the AFCO I was given another application form to fill out where the recruiter and I just filled in one choice, Scots Guards, I was always ...

Pay during Basic
Before I start I will just clarify that I have used the search button but have found nothing that answers my question specifically.
O.k, I have read numerous posts about this cash in hand business during the first 10 weeks of basic, from what I gather it is around the £50 a week mark. My question ...

Thanks, I have a tendancy to over think things, thus getting myself worked up! The tests weren't that bad, and i was quietly chuffed about my result. Common sense, as i'm reminded frequently, is not one of my strong points.
I thought it odd too, I look at it as just another hurdle. They did give me ...

Update on progress
Well I sat my BARB tests today and I can announce that I passed!!! I scored 69, which I gather is quite good. I also did the literacy and numeracy assessments, I thought they were quite tough. I got level 1 literacy, and level 2 numeracy, they didn't say what that meant.
So onto the next stage ...

I have applied to the Scots Guards, my dad served in the 2nd battalion during the Falklands, I think he would be disappointed if i joined any other regiment! How long did the whole BARB test take then? The Sergeant told me that there is no set amount of questions, but he gave no indication of how ...

Alrighty Mark, I thought that might be the next stage, I asked the recruiter last week what I might be asked at the interview but he said he couldn't tell me too much without giving it away. I asked if I should swat up on regimental history and present day operations but he said no!

Evening all
Just thought I would say hi to everyone here. I have my BARB test on wednesday and as it draws nearer I get that little bit more anxious about it! I'm not worried about the questions, just the speed required to answer them in order to ensure a high enough score. I'm not looking for answers and this ...
