Hope this isn't a stupid question...Me and a couple of mates are up for the race, and I've downloaded the runners training plan.
Anyone know what they mean by a stretching session (week 3)?
I generally incorporate stretches into my runs already. Is it simply whole body stretches (which normally ...

a stupid idea?
That's it, enough of being a bit of a Walt and reading everyones posts, I'm going to (try and) join 4 Para. Why? From what I've read and heard, with the current massive TA shortages, most units will take almost anyone. Despite what they claim, my local unit (Royal Artillery) is still a "fat boys ...

age limit
Me again. I got the info about the max age to get your wings in a letter from 23. (I still have it). The OC was adamant that the RAF won't put anyone through their jumps who is over 40.
However, I 've just noticed 4 Para are taking recruits upto 44.
So I'm still none the wiser...

Age etc.
I spoke with 23 a while ago. The upper age limit is fairly flexible to a point. There's no way they'll take you if you're too close to 40 though. Why? The para training (if you get that far). It's run by the RAF and 40 is the absolute maximum to get your wings.

Hi. Get hold of a copy of "Fighting Fit" by Adrian Weale. Its geared towards training for SAS/Para/RM selection but there is plenty of general fitness stuff in there. Start on the Home Heartwarmer programme, you'll be knocking out press-ups by the dozen in no time.
Also, have a look at at the main ...

well done
40? well done!
I remember replying to an RMR ad in my late 30's but they couldn't even be bothered to reply. I read that the MOD is upping the age limit to make up for recruitment shortfalls, is this how you managed to wangle it?

Age Limits RMR
After some advice please.
After a short career as a weekend warrior a few years back, I'm getting a strong longing to wear camo again and spend my freetime getting cold and wet, so the RMR seems like a good idea. The only problem I've got is my age- I'm a poor old 40 year old. However I'm still ...
