I agree, doing situps, press ups and other circuit like exercises works the core muscles and can be very beneficial to overall fitness, even if they are not tested on.

I like the idea of burst sprints every 100metres or so, gunna have to try that, should hopefully increase my speed! Thanks KJ-Edwards.

3 Miler - 22.45 (did it 2day) Previsously 25.01 so im dead chuffed

If i am correct in saying, all those skills will be taught to you during your service in normal milirary units. You cannot join the SAS untill atleast 3 years of service. This is so that the applicants have basic military knowledge and disapline and can easily adapt to the special forces.

Circuits vs weight training??

I have seen written on this forum many a time that people should reduce the amount of weight training they do and concentrate on circuits of push ups etc. This may be correct but i would have expected that weights would be very helpful to improve your muscles so that you can perform as many press ...

Thats why i have not applied yet because i know i will get absolutely battered cardio wise, and im just not up to the required levels yet in that area. Thanks for the info. on hill training etc, i've got a few good hills out her in the sticks so i will have to ahve a go at that.

Comment on training program please.

I have recently begun a new training program which will last me 9 weeks hopefully. Before i began this new program i had an injury (shin splints) so i had to rest for a couple months. I got this from overtraining and running on the road.

Monday - Run (20 minutes) - Circuit (press ups, sit ups etc ...

i mean to pass that certain part of the course not the whole thing. if you dont pass the 3 miler then you fail all together. thats why im worried about applying just yet because im not ready to do the 3 miler in the certain time. Yeah im rubbish at pressups 2! Best is 47 in 2 mins, hurt like a bitch ...

I have read in varies places differant things about the 3 mile run they conduct at the PRMC. The one that is stopping me from applying soon is that once you have ran 1.5 miles the instructor stops and tells you that you have to beat him back, over the next 1.5 miles in order to pass.
