Thankyou so much for the reply TJD,

I realised I had made a typo, I had actually bought a pair of warm brown shoes to match the chinos and wasn't going to wear black but thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks again,

Chris.

What to Wear??

Right,

I have recently completed my Fam. Visit and due to start IOT in about 3 weeks. During the visit we were issued with a panphlet titles 'What To Wear'. As you would guess it describes appropriate dress for the various occasions, unde the 'Jacket and Tie' section it says, and I quote,

'In ...

Carrying a load whilst breaking in your boots!!??!!

Hi all,

I have been issued with my CAB's and am in the process of breaking them in, I have done a few walks over the Sussex Down's and am now looking for advice as to whether its a good idea to start to carry loads at this stage? I am looking at around 20kg, would this be a sensible weight to work ...

IOT Dates

Right thinking of this logically,

No.1 IOT Start Date 21st November.

We do 4 weeks taking us upto 21st December, then, lucky for us, we have Christmas off.

Christmas Break is 21st December 05 - 2nd January 06

We do 6 more weeks, taking us to 6th February. With 1 weeks leave, before starting the ...

There is an IOT startin gon the 6th January, i know that as one of the guy's i did OASC with said that's when he starts.

Hmm,

I am almost certain that is not the case, as their were a number of Officer Cadets on the Development Flight taking our Familiarization Visit who, for whatever reason ...

Back when I went through OASC the scoring was out of 4.

As TJD says, you should be looking to achieve 4's on the interview and fitness, two of the areas that are potential easy points.

Good Luck to those of you who are going this month.

IOT Dates

Well being on the first 30 week course, I can tell you it starts, officially, on the 20th November. The next, I think I remember, starts on the 19th February.

As for the Fam. Vists, I had mine 4th-5th of this month, around 30 people on it, there is subsequently 3 more, each having between 23-28 ...

POE = Power Of Expression

One of the categories the AFCO would no doubt have graded most people on before sending their file upto Cranwell.

Not much to say really,

You are obviously competitive, you were placed in your first competition.

Try and imagine it as your application sitting in a pile somewhere, of your chosen trade, with the highest scoring applicant at the top filtering down to the lowest scorer at the bottom. The 2 ...

I could only imagine it being a good thing.

When I went through selection nearly all the people I was in contact with, after OASC, found out relatively quickly that they had not been accepted. It may well be that your scored competitively enough to be considered and thus forwarded into the pools ...

Just to reiterate newmans thoughts. Go in with an open mind!!

During the hangar exercises, which are daunting at first, stay relaxed, once again it is not necessarily whether you complete a task its how well you managed the syndicate within the task. This section can be the helpful extra push over ...

OASC

From what I have heard only 88 pilot places were being selected for this year, that's what the AFCO have said, but I have heard all sorts of different statistics.
