Many thanks for that, it has certainly put my mind at ease. Nine years is a long time to a whippersnapper such as myself, and committing my wife and I to a new way of life for that amount of time is very daunting. I wouldn't intend to come out before my contract expires, but it's good to know that ...

Opting Out?
Does the RAF have offer an opting out clause in it's contract? Say, for instance, you'd signed on for 9 years, but had the opportunity to buy yourself out after 3 if all was not going well? :laola:

Thanks for that, I had no idea that you could do so many different things within a supply trade. Wouldn't mind getting para qualified! That's really given me something to think about, thankyou. And the eyesight standards for the RAFP are higher than those for the civil police. You can't get away ...

RAF Police - Best Trade?
Hi all, I applied to the RAF to join the police, but got knocked back because my eyesight isn't quite up to scratch. However, they have said that I can join another trade so does anybody have any suggestions? I'm fit, and like reasonably technical stuff, hold a professional medical qualification and ...

Thanks Bovie :D . I'm reasonably confident on my fitness, I'm just worried about failing on something unexpected. I can just about do the swimming test, but I can't seem to do any more - yet. Guess I'll just have to dive in! But if any serving members can let me know what to prepare for, I'd really ...

I've been having some lessons, but I still find it difficult. Been practicing for about 6 months now and it's only just started to improve. I've been in for an 'informal chat' but have not applied yet - I wanted to make sure my fitness was squared away first. Guess the guitar was a long shot. At ...

New Entrant Training
Ok, I know that many variants of this question have already been posted, but.....
During RN basic at Raleigh, any idea what the furthest distance is I'll have to run? I'm comfortable up to 5 miles, don't fancy doing more than that! Also, I'm only barely able to pass the swimming test. If I got ...
