Just assuming for a minute that they were suicides (which I must admit seems unlikely) what 'mental health' support is actually available in the forces? I imagine that it must be quite a difficult culture to ask for help in - do opportunities even exist for recruits to seek help? To be honest - even ...

Cheers Rob, that's pretty reassuring. My problem is that I do have a slight hearing loss in my left ear though I don't need to wear a hearing aid or anything (and not just out of stubborness!!) which is why I'm slightly apprehensive about the whole thing.

I've been looking through old posts on the forums and I keep coming across HCR (Higher Combat Readiness?) in the posts about 21 and 23 SAS.
Is HCR status only applicable to those units or is there a similar status for other units and what does it entail in terms of extra training/commitment?

RobT - when you filled out the application forms and stuff did they ask for your family doctor's details and did they mention whether they ask for medical records from them? Also, what was your hearing test like? I had some ear problems when I was younger (including a couple of operations) and I'm ...

As a new member of the forums (though I have been reading them for a while) I have to say I haven't really experienced the problems mentioned to any great degree so my comments may not be entirely accurate...
As far as a public and private forum goes I would certainly be happy to pay £5 or whatever ...
