Re: Green Berets Joining

I see where your going with this.
Yes the United States allowed foreign nationals to join the armed forces during the Vietnam war.
They were grunts. No spec.ops. No Delta No Seals No Marine Recon.
Just grunts.
The deal was to serve two tours'IN COUNTRY' ie in combat. Then the D of S would consider ...

Give him a couple of years at most, then there will be an assassination attempt. If they could do for the Kennedy's,what chance has this boy??

Owdun.

Nobody will try to assassinate him. The end result would be far worse than if he were left alone. We could end up with Joe Biden as POTUS ...

Yes you are a part of the Special Forces. I do not see why you should remain anonymous!

I was one of those - but I never had ny face blacked out!! In fact Iwas used as a recruiting poster!!

Sneaky

And I'll bet that you ...

Re: christianity in the paras

This might not be the most popular subject but I'm thinking about leaving university as its boring and joining the Parachute Regiment and was just wondering, being a Christian myself, how accepting people are of it and if they treat you any differently? I'm not the sort of person to ram it down ...

its not all just about parachuting

In fact it's very rarely about the parachuting nowadays - when was the last operational jump?!

In fact there's a question colmurph, when did the Americans last make an operational jump? Do you still use it as a 'means of getting to work?' Current theatres don't ...

The US doesn't have that kind of training in the BAC course. The obstacle course is a lot like the "Darby Queen" at Ranger School. This looks like SFAS which is the Pre-selection for the Special Forces Qualification Course. I don't think that all of that is necessary to weed people out of becoming ...

I think Holgers right.
It was known as the'Paris Gun'
British and French arty had a hard time registering it as it could move fairly easily.
Both sides used a similar monster in WW1.
Called the Dalgren it could discharge and then through the use of it's own recoil disappear below the line of sight ...

Could include the fact that, British DID serve in Vietnam, very limited scale but, they did. Spec. Forces on exchanges with SEALs, Green Berets etc. were the order of the day. But SAS & SBA despised Yank SF, cause they did things like light fires giving position away etc. bad soldiering basically ...

In 1966 while with the 3d SFG at Ft. Bragg I was on a HALO drop from 12,500 feet with Maj. D..... who showed up for the drop with a terrible hangover from the night before. We were all wearing Bell Helmets instead of the soft "Bunny Hats" and were jumping without oxygen. At altitude Maj. D.... was ...
