women in the sas
Bigwig, I find your opening comments highly offensive and totally uncalled for. If you had bothered to read through this thread properly, you would have found that I at no time ever considered women in the SAS/SBS or indeed in any infantry type roles a good idea. Yes, there are some things best ...

Quite honestly, I do not believe I have just read some of the comments here, this is the 21st century, for Gods sake !!!!!
I think some of you should hang your heads in shame.
Some of you with no military experience, clearly don't know what you are talking about. As for the old and bold, well did ...

D-Day, 6th of June
Not just the names, Harry, it was the ages that got me. Most of them just kids, hardly out of their teens, some of them not even that.
And here we are 59 years later, and still we have Mothers mourning their sons who died just a few short weeks ago.

I get a pain in me right lug 'ole every time John moans about his knackered knees, the metal plate in his ankle and the fact that he can't run anymore.
Oh yes, and he must have been the only blind sniper in the Corps as he can't see a thing without his specs! :(
If he were a horse he would be taken ...

Royal at play
Watching the boys go ashore at 45 one night. Saw the usual array of Roman Soldiers, large hairy wrens (not real ones, obviously!) and a bumble bee going out of the gate.
Much, much later that night, the bumble bee returned to camp via a police car. Out he fell, big black eye, one wing hanging ...

Walked into Wrens 1/4s at RM Condor one night, there was Royal studiously painting his nails bright red, another going through the girls wardrobe seeing what might fit, and two others in the lounge having a very serious debate about what colour tights might go with his outfit!

Since when was a predilection to violence a requirement for being in SF or any forces for that matter, Jackal ?
Emotions are not something to be viewed as negative either, haven't we just won a war with "hearts and minds" just as much as with rounds and bombs ? The British Armed Forces are made up ...

Right then, knew I couldn't stay out of the fray for ever. Loz, you never cease to impress me, scarey or what, sure you were never a Chief Wren in a previous life ?
