i've heard some crappy news, that Geoff 'penis face' Hoon is going to cut thousands of royal navy positions.
i'm gonna be furious if by the time i start at raleigh, they say, sorry, we can't take you now. if that happens, RN should go on strike.
anyone at raleigh heard about this yet?

he confirmed it today.
10,000 civilian jobs
1,500 rn jobs
various ships, and upcoming ones aswell.
it's hit the RAF the worst though..

The devil will be in the detail, but from what i gather the Navy is still going to be a good bet for a safe career and recruitment will continue.
Shouldnt think you'll have too much to worry about.

We'll, you'll probably get turned away but everybody else will be OK.
As far as i know, the cuts will come from natural turnover and wastage, and recruitement should continue as normal.

i wonder if the armed forces can go on strike?
it would be quite amusing to see the fire brigade having to fight conflicts in the middle east. that would be some turnaround!!

It's ironic. British forces are tied up in god knows how many places in Africa, overstretched in Afghanistan and getting the shit kicked out of them in Iraq, and what does Blair do? Order defence cuts? lol. You couldnt make it up.
