It was good to see Cpt Pilkington RM on this forum,on the old message board there never seemed to be any input from former or serving officers. And in the E-mail directory I have yet to find one (although I haven't searched it all the way through yet).Us O.R.s might pass the port the wrong way sometimes but we would still like to hear from you,I have served with some bloody good officers and would value any input from them and any others who would care to join in.
Anyone else got anything to say on this?.

I am in contact, by e-mail, with a few retired officers. One in particular is of the impression that officers are not welcome on this site.
I personally have served with some very fine officers, men who I have great respect for, even to this day.
I think that it is the task of the contributers to this site, to dispel the myth that retired and serving officers are not welcome on the site.
I know that we can be gentlemen when we want to. My wife still comments on whenever she walked into a mess, she never heard anyone use bad language. I think that is peculiar only to Royal Marines.
Aye.

If they are Royal Marine Officers they are more than welcome - the site is for us all - Officers in the Corps are renouned for being respected by the OR's are they not...
Check out the e-mail listings there are several officers amongst them, mostly SD - I would be very happy to add any General List Officers too.
The difference is there is not a dedicated section for Officers this is a single level tier.
So if you are/were an Officer in the Royal Marines and would like to take part please do.

Once again, this isn't the Sgts Mess you don't
need a formal invite to join in.So get your
MOA to start up the computer for you!!.
As Nomad said R.M officers prefered, but any
Commando qualified officers are sure to be welcome as well.
I'm away for a couple of days,so all the very best to all for the New Year.

I agree with you all,
Where are all those Officers who would be so welcome on this site.
Have served with some really impressive ones. George Thurston (Sigs officer 42 in Singers) for one. The Troop saw the sun up over Boogie St with him and his mate the Padre. Also Euan Taylor (HMS Intrepid} a Brigs son whose book on the Falklands coast was used in the invasion. And others.
Maybe we should all contribute to a full page advert in the G&L to encourage them to join us. After all, maybe they don't know about this site. I'm sure they're not told about it in their Leaving Routine.
If you are in contact with an Ex/Present Officer - Tell him about it.

I bet that there are lots of Officers surfing in and out without comment.
Listening to all this cackle - It's a bit daunting to get in on the conversation, you know what it's like trying to join a conversation at the bar.
Step in shipmates the water is fine.
Happy New Year bytheway.

Re my suggestion for a G&L Ad to encourage Officers to join us on Once A Marine
No, I've no idea what it costs but it's probably a great amount judging by your comment. How about a submitted article to the G&L explaining about us, our site and how it is Open to All. There must be brilliant Scribe out there who could do a good presentation.
OK, now your going to tell me the Corps wouldn't permit publication. Are we so fragmented?
