SAS selection

Post by garyoconnor »

Hi. Is it true the SAS selection pass rate has more than doubled? I read on the paper that last year on the winter course out of 250 candidates only 20 passed and this year on the winter course out of 250 46 passed. Thanks for any replies.

I think you might find that things are not quite as rigorous since the death in the Welsh mountains

Complete nonsense. The only aspect that has changed is improved safety procedures and better risk assessments.

UKSF selection remains both physically and mentally demanding.

Aptitude is a progressively arduous phase, requiring a great expenditure of physical energy, designed to select volunteers with the right qualities. It is emphasised to stand any chance of success you must be physically fit at the start of the course. Like always soldiers & officers that are:
Physically and mentally robust
Self Confident
Self Disciplined
Able to work alone
Able to assimilate information and new skills

Are not found in abundance.

Zero

Thanks for the replies. Does that mean the pass rate is still around 10%?

You will need to be a trained soldier with a few years before you can apply
