It seems that we are all moving further away from rememberance each year. The Reunion on the 15th of June has so far not found favour with very many people. This is set to be a really good bash so come on get your arses in gear and help make the 20th something to remember.
A lot of people put a lot of time into the organisation of this event to attract less than 1:20 of those who wear the medal. This should be something we all get out to it would help mend a lot of lost friendships and see a few smiles that you have not seen for a long time so come on Royal make this one to remember.

SAMA 82 Falklands Reunion
Twenty years have passed since we left these shores to liberate the Falkland Islanders. It was a huge task to be set for the British Forces but the professionalism shone through and the task was achieved. To this end I feel that a reunion is well deserved, somewhere we can meet old comrades and reminisce
The Reunion will again be held at the Polo Fields HMS Sultan, Gosport, Hampshire on 15 June 2002, by kind permission of Commodore Kidner RN. There will be several bars and food outlets, all the family are welcome. Jim Davidson will be hosting the evening along with some top quality entertainment, to be announced nearer the time. Tickets are £25.00 each, children under 16 go free.
Gosport Council are again organising the Sunday Memorial Service on 16 June 2002. All the veterans will be as close as possible to the Falklands Gardens for the service. A march past will take place on completion of the service.
As always for this type of event, sponsorship is very difficult to find, so if you know of a company that would like to be involved with the Reunion please pass their details onto us.
HMS Fearless & Intrepid Association Reunion
We have organised a Reunion with a difference for this year with a joint venture.
The Association will meet at 12 noon prior to the Falklands Reunion with the event then running alongside the Falklands Reunion. The price is as above £25.00 each though we would ask that you also contribute towards the campaign to save Fearless with what ever you can afford.
This we hope will be the start of a great association, membership forms for the association are available on the web site.
The reunion is available for all not just association members.

Ratso, There is a rememberance as I have had my troop together on the 10th and 15th years. We make our way back up to Arbroath and swing the lamp ... and talk.
BUT also this year there is a reunion of the whole of the Cdo Grp, and at the last count there were 350 blokes due to turn up.
There is, if you look around this site, reunions for 42, and now someone is trying to kick arse in 40 for them.
The big problem is ...... which one do you attend.
I know I go to my home unit first, and always will.
Luckily as I had my troop together and Pat Chapman, who was the RSM at the time, said (sorry ordered us<as only RSM's can>) back up to Arbroath. So who are we to argue.
Up to Arbroath in JUNE for a few quiet lemonades, and pehaps a smokie, and quiet genteel banter between oppos who have not met for years.

Yep I have to agree that it has to be unit first Yorkie, BUT I do hope that the 25th will be a different matter with a major bash where all can come together after all we did the job together and I feel that we all seem to go our seperate ways.
SAMA has to be worth supporting after all they have done in the last few years and it is a little sad when the whole thing is spread so wide across the UK. I hope that a suggestion is made at all levels that the 25th should be as we have been told our year to commemorate and to do it in style and ceremony that befits the nature of the event.
We have already lost a lot of the people who went South over the last 20 years and we will loose a few more before the 25th year. I still feel this year should have been the year, but that aside please start suggesting that the 25th is one big commemorative event not each to his own. I for one want to show the UK that we want to do it right and we should be looking for the full works that year, with all the ceremony we and those who did not return deserve.
It would be nice to see anyone who can make it turn out in Pompy, after all it is where most of us sailed from.
