RM/Army Reserves unpaid leave

I've been looking into joining either the Army Reserves or Royal Marine Reserves. The problem I have is that I've been planning an expedition to a rainforest for some time. It's something I really have to do but I'm wondering whether its possible to join one of the reserves and still do this trip. It won't be till next year so I will have passed out by then.

From what I've read the Army reserves wants a minimum of 27 days training a year. The expedition I'm going on will take 2 months. If i complete the minimum of 27 days, do you think they'd be ok with me not turning up for training for a whole 2 months?

I read that the Royal Marine reserves gives 6 weeks holiday. If this is true, do you know if it would be possible to get unpaid leave for 2 months?

This expedition is something I've always dreamed about doing and finally have the funds to do. If I have to, I'll wait till next year (after the expedition) to join up but I'd prefer it if I didn't have to wait that long.

Thanks in advance
Peter
