23 Engineer Regiment (Air Assault)

Im hoping to join 23 engineer regiment (air assault) in either 51 Para or 9 Para and go on to wear the maroon machine and get my wings. Im just wondering do 23 engineer regiment HQ sqn have to pass P Company? as I've heard they get to wear the maroon beret aswell.
