Ok, more questions to silence my ignorant mate.
1. When did pcoy move to catterick?
2. Previous to this, did 4 para do pcoy at aldershot?
3. What was 4 para's birth date?
4. What aircraft were used for jumps in those days at brize? I'm assuming it was brize.
5. Pcoy lasted 2 weeks? How long was jumps course in those days and what types of jumps?
I'm sure I can come up with more questions as time goes on lol
Thanks in anticipation.

Catterick........That was in the 1990's when the Para's left Aldershot
4th Battalion used to be the 10th Battalion and changed around the same time
Jumps.....There was Manchester, Abingdon, then Brize.. Aircraft used for jumping after WW2 DC3, Valletta, Hastings, Beverly, Argosy, Hercules and some of us used C113 or the Nord
Your jump course took around two weeks depending on the weather
Your first two jumps were from a balloon, then we did a few jumps from a Valletta or Hastings and the first three from a plane were without your weapons container the next next two were with your full kit and your last jump was at night with full kit.

Thanks for that, so am I right in assuming, if you passed pcoy with 4 para in say 1990, they would actually have been 10 para? I'm trying to research the birth date of 4 para and everything to do with them. Do you mind me asking what year you did pcoy jumps etc?

If I remember rightly that these things charged when the Labour party became the government in the 1990's. I started P Coy in December 1955

I know a few former Para Reg, one of whom was RSM 4 Para approximately 2004. I'll ask him.

I did my para course in the mid 80s at Brize Norton. Us 'hats' did it alongside a platoon of baby paras. The course was 3 weeks I think. We jumped out of the balloon (1st descent) and C130s only.
