I have been in the army since 2003 so i'm still on the old scheme. I was expecting to get the £5000 bonus as thats what everyone who joined at roughly the same time has said they recieved. I have just checked on the system and it has said i'm getting £2500. I got £3000 for my 5 years so i'm quite disapointed to see that it's only £2500. I dont know if the wrong paper work has went through or if thats what i'm now entitled to. Any help on this matter would be appreciated. Also any links on were to find correct entitlements.

Now was this money to be paid tax free, or did you not ask.

Yeah, it's taxable. So was expecting £5000, then that would have been taxed so would have walked away with 3700
Have now found out is £2500 and that is taxable so expecting £1800
