RAF Medicals?

Hey everyone,

I have applied for the Army and as soon as things started to progress, the ADSC have been giving me hassle over a totally insignificant problem I had with my knees just less than a year ago.

They are asking me to do a training program for 3 months and be pain free for 12 months (which I will have been at the end of this year, although the original pain was an over reaction).

I want to apply for the RAF, as hopefully I will get in quicker with them and I think I will enjoy the RAF more.

Does anyone know how long the period is that I will have to be pain free for (in the RAF)? Or will they have a problem like the Army?
Is it 12 months like the Army?

I want to anticipate this before I call them and I go into a recruitment office.

I have evidence from scans and a letter from my consultant at the NHS that I dont currently have the problems they were referring to. Will the RAF accept this evidence? Unlike the Army being stubborn. (joking).

Thanks in advance.

I would say the RAF are going to be much the same as the Army.
In the RAF the medicals done by a civilian GP and they just follow a sort of manual giving to them by the RAF.

it is easy. all they do is do eye and ear test, bmi, blood pressure and all that. they didnt go into much detail really, which was quite surprising. maybe they do more in depth one at halton? anyone know?

Don't remember them taking blood, but I had all that done on my aircrew medical. There was definitely a dental check though! (And every vaccination possible, about 7 different jabs...)
