Yes mate, it's absolutely superb. Gives a very readable account of actions carried out by men and women who have been subsequently recognised for gallantry. Gives a very good insight into what the guys and girls are doing in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Thanks lads, will get stuck into this one as all the reviews I read on it have been good. You lads have also given it the thumbs up as well and I'm sure more members on here will also buy it.

Thanks again.
All the best.

By the way...

While I'm here as well, if no one on here has read Sniper One or 3 Para then go and buy those books! They're fantastic reads and they're all about the minds of the soldiers and their experiences.

You won't be disappointed with them.

To second what AJ said, 3 para and sniper one are definitely books you should go for. Sniper One I thought was amazing, the sort of book you don't want to end but at the same time fly through it.
Another one to look out for is "One Bullet Away" by Nathaniel Fick, a very good read about a USMC officer.
This should be in Recommended Media by now I think

Yeah I read about him too in the book called Generation Kill by Evan Wright which follows a company from the USMC Force Recon before, during and after Operation Iraqi Freedom (Op Telic). Excellent book that doesn't hold back on anything. You'll also see that the U.S had well and truely screwed up the planning for after the war fighting had been done.

Buy that book. You won't be disappointed.

A book I enjoyed was Black Hawk Down (there's a movie based on it yes, but this is the book).
I found it really good, from the eyes of the US Rangers and Delta guys down in Mogadischu at the time.

Good shout. 8)
Read that when I was 14! Pretty good book too.
Somali's are lethal when they're off their tit's on khat (pronounced 'cot').

It's in this book when I first realised the horrors (or wonders) of the 50cal! :o

Some Somali's took a while to go down because they were so messed up on khat that they didn't feel it. The U.S hadn't experienced that kind of fanaticism before as far as I know. The Somali's would literally come right at them.
The same tactic has been adopted in Iraq too. When the U.S launched Operation Phantom Fury back in 2004 to take back Falluja was when I read about how the insurgents were taking coctails of drugs to make them go insane and believe they were invincible. :o

Which of the above boks is highly recommended?
The books again are:
Foreign Fields
3 Para
Sniper One
One Bullet Away

Want to get a good book, not sure which of those is best and don't really want all of them at once. Any suggestions?

- Which book is about which force ie. 3 Para: 3 Para Reg (Obviously), and 'One Bullet Away' : USMC, but the other two?

Just me - why not have a quick look on amazon. Sniper One - a sniper platoon in PWRR, in Iraq (probably the best if you're looking for accounts of action).
