Got f**king deferred !!! Said I had high blood pressure (hypertension) but it was 99% down to nerves.

When we were waiting about 4 people got rejected or deferred so when I went in I was sh**ting it, I thought my knee would fail me but it passed, everything passed with flying colours then he took my blood pressure and said it was too high.

He told me to calm down and would take it again, but how can you remain calm sitting there in your boxer shorts haha, anyway he took it again in the space of 5 minutes and obviously it was still too high.

There is no way I have that condition or I wouldn't be able to peform the hard training I have been doing in the last 12 months I would have blacked out by now, like I said it was just nerves, I could feel my heart racing and couldn't calm it down!

So now I have to go to my GP and have this device fitted to me which reads your blood pressure over 24 hours in the comfort of your own home then take it back to him and get the results which more than likely will be fine. Then I have to send the results back to ADSC and that will be the medical passed, then I will just have to attend to do the physical tests.

It's an absolute piss take though, 6 hours on the train then 5 hours back all on the same day, 3 other lads got exactly the same, and 4 others for other reasons.

Few more weeks to go then, gutted.

Why did you post it in the Army section as well?

Because ADSC covers the whole Army, and I posted in here as I want to join the Paras, and not everyone looks at both forums. Is that ok with you ?

That is very harsh. But at least they have given you another chance with this gadget. Just don't go bashing one out with it on hehe. I feel your pain sort of I have had to wait 2 years for stupid reasons, then went and sent my med docs off the other week got deferred, appealed against it and now I am suitable.

They don't look at the bigger picture I think. Don't give up though put on a brave face and keep up the good work.

And justme leave it out, the man's just had the biggest kick in bollocks he could get. Keep your opinions to your self.

Blood pressure tests are notorious for being inaccurate because the testing itself often makes people nervous, so don't worry about that. Luckily, they are doing the right thing by testing it in normal conditions, and so it won't be a bar to entry - it could be much worse, in previous days you could have been declared ineligible right there.

A couple of weeks is bugger all. You aren't going to miss a deployment or tea and cakes night at Catterick. It's not a kick in the bollocks, it's a slight delay - take it on the chin as no more than an annoyance and move on.

I was laughing at the 'knocking one out' comment. Can you imagine the guy calling you in and asking you about this sudden spike in your heart rate. You'll be fine McGuire hope it gets sorted out quickly mate, while you've not got it on might as well do a bit more training?
